As the artist Manafest I’ve sold hundreds of thousands of albums and millions of singles, and the majority of those were sold without the help of a label. I’ve signed record deals in India, Germany, USA, Canada, UK and South Africa – to name a few. Some of the deals were amazing, like the one I had with EMI Japan (now known as Universal Music) and I’d sign that deal again in a heartbeat. Other record deals you couldn’t pay me a million dollars to re-sign, they were such bad experiences. I’m sure I’ve lost thousands upon thousands of dollars in royalties but I no longer lose sleep over it. I now control all my music 100% and choose not to get dragged into my past because my future and my dreams are in front of me, not behind me. And that goes for you too: wherever you are in your career as you read these words, your dreams are in front of you, and I want to stand by your side as you walk the path towards them.
